Missing my School

Next Week Thursday is the last day for the year 8s students. I have been in Glen Innes School for 9 years. I've started in room 1 and my first teacher was Miss Manu or Mrs Ramkolowan. I'm going to miss this school a lot because it feels like home and it also feels like where I've belong. Glen Innes School is great I will never forget my old school. I just want to say thank you to all teachers that have taught me for the past few years. It’s so sad that the year 8s will be leaving school next week. Glen Innes School is the best I won’t forget my happy moments that I had in school. I’ll miss you all teachers and all my friends. Thank You all.

Basic Facts Results

WALT: writing a reflection on my basics facts results

In my basics facts test my score before was 572 and now my score is 588. I'm quite scared about my results when I first got it this morning. When I had my results I kept on starring at it and see what got wrong and what I got right in my test. I couldn't work carefully because it's hard for me to concentrate because of the noise that the kids are making. The next step that I want to learn is Algebra, Obtuse, Straight and Reflex. I really want to learn more about Statistics.

Letter to Mr Hendricks

Walt: write a persuasive letter.

Purpose: To convince/persuade .

Success Criteria for opening paragraph
  1. Title
  2. I started with a question.   Should...
  1. I stated my point of view clearly in the introduction.  I think…..
  2. I backed my argument with evidence and detail.

Dear Mr Hendricks

Should we shorten our lunchtime break?

I think that you should shorten our lunchtime break so that we children can have more enjoyment with our friends or family. The reason why I help my family a lot so that I can get more time to play around with my cousins.

Firstly, I would like to share my ideas with my family or friends and see what I learned in school with other students. I enjoy learning new words and new strategies in maths but mostly when the bell rings when it’s morning tea break.

Secondly at home I’m always bored because I don't have anyone to play with.. Playing by myself wasn’t easy than I thought since my sister stayed in the islands when we left last week Friday. When I left I thought about the lunch breaks, I said to myself “Maybe we should change the rules for the lunch breaks,” I spoke. .

Lastly, I got back to learn new things about the new strategies and the new words in each subject.

In conclusion, for the above reasons, I believe that you should shorten our lunchtime breaks or make it a little bit longer.

Yours sincerely
Megan

Thank Letter to Ms Parkes

Room 11
Glen Innes School

24th September 2015

Dear Ms Parkes

Thank you for helping room 11 students to improve their writing. We appreciate your help because you have made us improve. Learning new things from you is helping me with my writing.

My favourite thing in writing is recount or narrative. The reason  I like writing a narrative or a recount is because when I write I use my imagination about the characters in the story.

I’ve used different kinds of words in my recount writing. I need more practice with complex sentences.

I’m still struggling  with persuasive writing. I’ve tried practicing how to write a persuasive writing at home but I’m still stressed out when I write.

I appreciate your help Ms Parkes.

Your sincerely
Megan

This is my E-asttle Maths Results. I got a 2P. I’m really shocked when I checked my maths results on e-asttle. I tried so hard to pass my test. Many questions were quite difficult for me but the most difficult question was to Find a fraction or percentages of an amount. Next time I set a test on
e-asttle I would like to concentrate more on all my subjects. I would like to learn more about Geometry.

Role Model

WALT: write a topic sentence and related facts

My role model in my family are my parents and my brother. The reason why I chose them is because they work hard in the family. In my family my mum works at the bank she always concentrates on her business work. My dad he works at 3:00 in  the morning. He wakes up and get ready to go to work. My brother, he works hard and never gives up in training lessons. If he gets hurt he never calls out for help.

In school my role model will be Serena,Lana and Shanelle. The thing is I like to hang out with them because there academic. Serena she always comes and help me whenever I need her help. Lana she’s a great artist, she sometimes helps other people finishing of their visual arts. Shanelle she’s really helpful and smart. She sometimes helps me with my maths problems. I know I’m a little bit shy when I contribute in a class activity.

In the community my role model will be Lucy from the herbalife company. Lucy is a great helper she helps other people to get fit and healthy. Herbalife has changed people’s lives in the community and that’s why I chose Lucy as my role model.

For my Conclusion I would like to say I’m happy to be like my mother because she works really hard and she calms her mind down when she is nervous. I want to be just like her because she’s very smart like her father in Samoa.
